The dry goods store on the corner, Misuzu Kaneko
The dry goods store on the corner,
Salt bales,
The sun shines brightly
Already slanting.
The second empty house
empty bales,
abandoned dog rolls
straggling.
The third liquor store
charcoal bales,
a horse from the mountains
now a manger.
From the shadow of the
sign of the fourth bookstore,
I was
gazing at it.
