Enjoy relaxing yoga & sweets in the open-air theater of the Edo period

On Saturday, November 10, "Rakujanshiki Yoga," an event to enjoy healing yoga and a cafe, was held at the Akasaki Shrine Rakujanshiki, a nationally designated and tangible cultural property in the Higashi-Fukagawa area.

The Akasaki Shrine Raku-janjiki, which was built in the Edo period (1603-1868), is an open-air theater built with stone walls on a mortar-shaped terrain within Akasaki Mountain. The experience was held twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, in the unique landscape where nature and artifacts are blended together. This page provides a report on the morning event.

(*)The evening event was held at the nearby Iiyama Hachimangu Shrine due to rain.

First, yoga is explained and the body is warmed up with breathing and movement as a preparatory exercise. Then, they moved on to "restorative yoga" by placing themselves on a bolster (a cushion used in yoga). Everyone relaxed and enjoyed yoga in the fresh morning air and the pleasant sound of birdsong.

After yoga, a special cheesecake will be served by Ufufu Gohan, a kitchen car popular for its homemade sweets and light meals.
The cheesecake was rich and just the right amount of sweetness to get everyone talking.

After a morning of yoga to tone up their bodies and enjoy delicious sweets and chatting, the participants expressed their impressions in their own words, saying, "Yoga at Rakujanshiki was very comfortable," "I became interested in the connection between body and mind," and "I fell asleep because it was so comfortable (laugh).

This event is held as part of the preservation and utilization of important cultural properties, and a portion of the event participation fee will be used to cover the cost of protecting cultural properties.

The next "Rakujanshiki/YOGA" is planned to be held in the spring, so please look forward to it! Notification of the event will be made on the Nagato experience reservation site "Nagatrip.
