Today (Friday, July 26, 2024) was the last day of the Senzaki Gion Festival in the Senzaki area (click here for an overview of the first day and the festival ).
Around 2:30 p.m., a Japanese dance will be dedicated at the "Kogion" near the north end of Senzaki.
On the first day of the festival, the mikoshi is brought from Yasaka Shrine to the "Kogion," and on the last day it is returned to Yasaka Shrine.
In the evening, the fair started at Yasaka Shrine. There was a sudden heavy rainfall before and after the fair started, but it somehow recovered.
From around 6:00 p.m., a Japanese dance performance by child maiko will be performed on a float set up in front of the shrine.
Shortly after the Gion Festival ended, fireworks were displayed from the nearby fishing port as "Senzaki Gion Fireworks.
We look forward to seeing you again next year!
