Sunrise Climbing in the High Mountains of Qinghai Island
On January 1, 2020 (New Year's Day), the annual New Year's Day "Sunrise Climbing" will be held at Takayama (高山) on Qinghai Island.

This event, planned and managed by the Qinghai Island Republic, a local organization in the Qinghai Island area, has seen an increase in the number of participants each year, and last year more than 100 people enjoyed the climb and the view from the summit.
Takayama, where a trail has been maintained by local residents, was selected as one of the "100 Best Shimayama (Island Mountains) " by the Japan Remote Islands Center in 2008, and is known as a superb spot from which to view "Nami no Hashidate" and the"Maritime Alps " from the top of the mountain. The trail used to have some steep slopes, but now a new trail has been developed and even children can walk up the mountain.
On the first day of 2020, please enjoy the view from 319 meters above sea level and the first sunrise of the year.

[Meeting place] Takayama Auto Campsite (733-7 Senzaki, Nagato City)
*Please park in the campsite if coming by car
[Contents] 40-minute climb from the campsite to the top of Takayama (start at 6:00), after descending the mountain, ozoni (300 yen) and sweet sake (100 yen) will be sold at the campsite. After descending the mountain, ozoni (300 yen) and amazake (100 yen) will be sold at the campsite (for 100 people, ends when all gone)
[Participation fee] Free (no application required, participants must be there by 6:00 on the day)
[Preparations] Flashlight, warm clothes, sports shoes or boots, hat, gloves
[Notes] Cancelled in case of rain
