Scattering," in which bicyclists ride their bicycles as if they were going for a walk
The term "sanso" refers to the act of riding a bicycle as if for a stroll and enjoying a trip unique to a certain area. This is an initiative proposed by "LIFE CREATION SPACE OVE," a concept store of bicycle parts manufacturer SHIMANO.
Nagato City Fair at OVE in September 2019
This September, the Nagato City Fair was held at OVE in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. On this occasion, the staff of the tourist information center YUKUTE, together with the manager of OVE who visited from Tokyo, actually conducted a "scatter-run" monitoring tour through the Senzaki district.
This time, they planned to enjoy the retro townscape of Senzaki, its sea-related scenery, and its famous dried fish, and titled the tour "Senzaki HIMONO Scattering". The group chose "electric bicycles" from the rental bicycle service at the tourist information center "YUKUTE" and proceeded along Misuzu Street.
Along the way, wooden plaques and panels depicting poems by Misuzu Kaneko, a children's song poet from Senzaki, caught our eyes. Visitors were heard to say, "I feel as if I am being welcomed by Ms. Misuzu," including a mosaic art made from a board of fish cake, a local specialty.
After crossing the Qinghai Bridge and admiring the view from Ojiyama Park, walk down the slope to the harbor.
Then we arrived at Hamachaya Sangi, a container café by the sea.
The store is also one of the "Cycle Friend Shops" in Nagato City.
In the afternoon, the Senzaki and Aomi Island area found itself under blue skies.
While gazing at the sea reflecting the glistening sunlight, we enjoyed a set meal of dried and fried fish produced at the adjacent "Kimura Suisan" restaurant. The thick dried fish tasted even better as we pedaled our bicycles.
Scattering" is not just about getting to a destination, but also about pedaling slowly and enjoying the ride along the way. On this day, we felt the sea breeze and enjoyed the peaceful scenery and food unique to the area.
The Tourist Information Center "YUKUTE" plans to continue to plan such "Scatter Ride" events as a new travel proposal using rental bicycles. We invite you to experience the charms of Nagato City, such as the sea, mountains, food, and hot springs, by bicycle.
