In service on January 15, 2020 (Wednesday)

On December 27 (Fri.), a site tour was held to see the completion of the "parking lot" that serves as the entrance to Nagato Yumoto Onsen and the "Yuzukichizaka" or "Ochaya-dori" or "Ochaya-komichi" that leads to the hot spring resort area.

All of the facilities will be open for use on January 15, 2020 (Wednesday), and parking will be available from 10:00 a.m. on the same day. In this report, we will introduce the features of each facility, which have been elaborately designed to suit the needs of a hot spring resort where visitors can enjoy strolling around.

Nagato Yumoto Onsen Parking Lot

The new parking lot is now complete along Route 316.

The first thing that greeted us were the plantings and wooden walls that harmonize with the rich natural hot springs area. At night, cherry blossoms, maple trees, and other trees are lit up to create a different view than during the day.

There is ample parking for 95 cars, 3 buses, and 15 motorcycles.

A new bus stop has also been installed to match the atmosphere of Nagato Yumoto Onsen. Here, people playing on the Otoshigawa River or relaxing on the "Otoshigawa Terrace" are depicted in the illustrations.

In one corner of the parking lot is the "Miharashiza" terrace, which takes advantage of the mountainous terrain to offer a view of the town from the hilltop leading to the Onshin River. This view, which is the first one you encounter when you get out of your car, is sure to heighten your excitement for the journey ahead.

The letters on the monument were written by Hojo Iwata of Daneiji Temple.

Yuzukichi Saka

The gentle slope leading from the south side of the parking lot to the hot spring resort area is "Yuzukichi Slope.

In the terraced fields that take advantage of the topography, Nagato Yuzukichi, an aromatic citrus that is endemic to the area and gave its name to the area, is planted and carefully nurtured.

Indirect lighting on the railings allows visitors to walk on the calmly lit road surface at night while enjoying the atmosphere of the stone walls.

Ochaya Street and Ochaya Alley

One of the routes that pass by "Yuzukichizaka" and connect the "Bamboo Grove Staircase" to the "Autumn Leaves Staircase" is "Ochaya-dori" and "Ochaya Koji". The name "Ochaya Dori" and "Ochaya Koji" are derived from the location of the former teahouse of the feudal lord, Seion-tei, which is said to have once been located here.

The pavement is made of natural stone, which gives a sense of elegance, and is paved with terraced stones. Like "Yuzukichizaka," this slope will also be illuminated at night.
