Launched in 2017, the Photojournalism Site Awards, sponsored by the Japan Photo Tourism Association, recognize websites that invite visitors to travel with their photographic appeal from among more than 1,700 official websites operated by local governments and tourism associations nationwide. After the nation's best 100 are selected each year, the best 10 are chosen from among them.
In the recently announced "Photogenic Site Awards 2018," the website "Nanavi" operated by the Nagato City Tourism & Convention Association was selected as one of the 10 best websites in Japan. All pages in both Japanese and foreign languages were eligible for the award, and "Visit Nagato," the foreign language page of "Nanavi," received particular recognition.
According to the Japan Photo Tourism Association, the criteria for selection was "a website that introduces inbound travelers to the "things" they can do and experience there with attractive photos in a fun way. Visit Nagato" was highly evaluated for its "easy-to-understand layout and attractive photos that show the grandeur of nature.
Visit Nagato ", the foreign language page of "Nanavi", was renewed in March 2017. It is available in English, Korean, Chinese (traditional and simplified), French, and Italian, and is designed to visually convey tourist attractions such as Motonosumi Shrine and Aomi Island, as well as hot springs, activities, and food.
