On the day before the festival, people bring in New Year's decorations and other items to make an eight-meter-high yagura, which is piled with New Year's decorations, to celebrate the festival. The direction in which the yagura falls is used to predict a good catch and a good harvest.Review by Nobuo Shimose, Juror
The sun shines from the shadows of the mountains, illuminating the bay, and the fire is lit on the oars built on the shady shore, capturing the light, flames, and people with exquisite timing. In many places, there is a tradition that the oars are supposed to predict a good catch or harvest depending on which way they fall, and the rich nature of the sea and the mountains is well captured.
The "2nd Nagato City Tourism Photo Contest - Nagato Original Scenery" featuring tourism materials in Nagato City closed for entries at the end of February. During the period, we received 262 entries from inside and outside of the prefecture. Thank you very much for all the entries.
