This is Muranaka of the Tourism Division. Today, for the first time in a while, I dropped by Nishiki-cho Shoten in front of the Kaneko-Misuzu Memorial Museum and found souvenirs that I had never seen before. Moreover, it was a souvenir that would be appreciated as a gift from Misuzu's hometown. It was this. IMG_4666   The box labeled "Chicken Egg Seibei" had a cute illustration of Misuzu by illustrator Shingo Ozaki, and a line from Misuzu's poem "Kodama desu ka, no, nani wo..." written on it. It also had a line from Misuzu's poem, "Kodama desu ka, no, no one. As you can see, this is not an ordinary square box, but a box made to look like a book! When you open it like a book, there is a chicken egg cracker inside. I think this is a souvenir that will be popular among women and children! There are not many stores in the city that sell them, so when you visit Misuzu's hometown Senzaki, Nagato City, why not buy these "chicken egg crackers" as a souvenir at Nishiki-cho Shoten, located right in front of the Kaneko-Misuzu Memorial Museum?   Nishikicho Shoten also carries a variety of other Nagato City specialties. Thus ↓. IMG_4678? IMG_4681?IMG_4683  There were hair bands, hair pins, chopstick rests, straps, necklaces, and other items with wonderful illustrations. Amongst all these different things on sale, I bought this "Sasasen" (laugh). IMG_4672  These "crackers" are handmade from the meat of young chicken. This is said to be good as a snack with beer or for children. I thought it was one of the typical souvenirs of Nagato, the town of yakitori (grilled chicken) (laugh).  And last but not least, I found a pudding made by Toraya in my hometown of Senzaki. IMG_4684  This pudding was very good. I talked to the owner, Mr. Miyata, and he told me that women often order this pudding with coffee. When you need a break after visiting the Kaneko-Misuzu Memorial Museum, it would be good to go into Nishikimachi Shoten, located right in front of the museum, and have this pudding and coffee set to heal your tired body and brain. This is how the store looks like.IMG_4691
