On September 5 (Sat), a special exhibition, "Stories touched by Misuzu," opened at the " Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum " in the Senzaki district of Nagato City.
This exhibition features poems based on the stories, and explores the keen observation and sensibility of Misuzu Kaneko.
Misuzu, known as a voracious reader, wrote several poems through various stories.
They are divided into six genres: "Gentle Folktales," "Myths (Misuzu and Myths)," "Classics (Kanashii Tales)," "Foreign Tales (Utsukushii Foreign Fairy Tales)," "Ushiwakamaru and Naganori Kumasaka," and "Existence Created by Misuzu.
In each genre, we can learn about Misuzu's keen observational skills and hear how she captured the story.
It is also a wonder of Misuzu's sensitivity that we can look at the subject of the story from a new perspective through Misuzu's gaze (poetry).
If you have ever wondered what kind of poems they are, please come to this exhibition.
This exhibition is based on answers to the question many visitors have asked us, "Why was Misuzu able to write such wonderful poems?
We encourage families to come as well, as the content is easy to understand and enjoyable for both children and adults.
