On Monday, February 14, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) announced the selection of "Tsunagu Tanada Heritage - Hometown Pride for the Future," and two terraced rice fields ("Aburatani Higashi Gobata" and "Hongo Tanada") were selected from Nagato City.
The "Tsunagu Tanada Heritage: Handing Down the Pride of Our Hometown to the Future" is a project conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan.
The "Tsunagu Tanada Heritage Selection Committee," which consists of external experts, evaluates and selects the efforts to promote terraced rice field areas throughout Japan, and announces the results of the selection process.

This year, 271 terraced rice paddies were selected from all over Japan, and 8 locations in Yamaguchi Prefecture, including Nagato City, were chosen.
