Nagato City faces the Sea of Japan. Akasaki Shrine, located on a small mountain near the city center, has a "raku-janshiki" that utilizes the mortar-shaped terrain. It is an open-air theater said to have been built in the Edo period (1603-1867) as a viewing platform for the "Raku Odori" dance dedicated at the annual festival held on September 10. Dancing and dedicating the dance here is a longing and honor for the shrine parishioners. The spectators who fill the Raku-zanjiki also enjoy this once-a-year festival. This program closely follows a village that dedicates Raku Odori. As time goes by, one village after another has stopped dedicating Raku Odori, but the people who are passionate about the festival are struggling to preserve the tradition for future generations. From parents to children and from children to grandchildren. Some have lived here for generations, and others are newcomers to the community after the land was converted to residential land. The "festival" connects families and strengthens and unites the bonds of the community." The hearts of the people who "enjoy the festival" gather at Rakujanshiki. Broadcast Date: Saturday, October 1, 2016 Time: 13:00 - Broadcasting station: KRY Yamaguchi Broadcasting Program name: Daido Drinking Special "Rakujiki ni Maiu - Here is Nagato's Outdoor Theater
