Nagato City boasts one of the largest catches of squid in Japan. Only squid that are caught carefully one by one and landed at the Senzaki market are called "Senzaki squid" and are known as the "queen of squid" for their tender flesh and beautiful appearance. (Season: October to December). Nagato Yakitori Nagato City has the highest number of yakitori restaurants per 10,000 people in Japan! The main items are grilled skewers of chicken or pork with salt, and the Nagato way is to eat them with garlic powder by yourself. Developed by the city officials of Nagatori Noodle City, Nagatori Noodle is made with thick, firm noodles in a chicken broth and topped with sweet and spicy chicken chashu pork and a boiled egg. It is also recommended as a delicious after-dinner snack after enjoying yakitori (grilled chicken and pork)!
