Works by Rouault, Miro, and Takeji Fujishima from the collection of Yasuo Kozuki are on view!

Yasuo Kazuki was born in Misumi, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, in 1911. 32 years old, he was drafted into the war and ended up in Hyrule, Manchuria. After the war, he was interned in Siberia by the Soviet Army, and did not return to Japan until two years after the war ended. After returning to Japan, he continued his creative activities in his hometown of Misumi, and in March 1974 (Showa 49), he passed away after 62 years of life. On February 12, 2015, over 300 oil paintings and 2,000 drawings and documents were donated to the museum by the family of Kagetsu. This exhibition introduces a wide range of paintings that have been carefully preserved for more than 40 years since his death, including oil paintings from his early to late years, sketches of daily life, paintings of overseas landscapes, works by Rouault, Miro, and Takeji Fujishima that were collected by Kagetsu, as well as materials related to Kagetsu's work. All of these works are being exhibited for the first time at the museum. Please enjoy the new world of Yasuo Kagetsu.20160930-20170116_Kazuki Yasuo Museum of Art_Exhibition 20160930-20170116_Kazuki Yasuo Museum of Art_Exhibition
