As of June 16, 2017 (Heisei 29), the hydrangeas at Koutokuji Temple are almost at their best.
There is not much rain this year....
I would love to see the hydrangea glowing in the rainwater.
The main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha. Originally called Mukotsu-an, the temple was merged with Kaitoku-ji in 1801 and renamed Mukotoku-an. The name was changed to Mukotoku-ji in the Showa period (1926-1989). The temple is also known as "hydrangea temple" and is famous for its hydrangeas.
