Towering cliffs, unusual rock formations, and rugged reefs—shaped over countless years by volcanic activity around 90 million years ago and the rough waves of the Sea of Japan—are scattered throughout the island, letting you feel the artistry of nature up close. Enjoy the view from the sea on the Omijima Cruise Ship, or from land on the Omijima Island Nature Trail.
On the Omijima Cruise Ship, when the sea is calm (sunny summer days are best), you can even enjoy attractions like entering sea caves and passing between rock formations.

Nihonga painter Kaii Higashiyama—known for his murals at the Imperial Palace—also created works inspired by Omijima’s scenery.
