Ojiyama(Mt Oji) Park
Famous for its cherry blossoms, the park is located on a hill overlooking Senzaki Port
Yasaka Shrine (formerly known as Gion Shrine) in Senzaki-Gion-cho is said to have its origin in Ojiyama. According to the records passed down in the shrine, Kibi Makibi, a Japanese envoy to the Tang Dynasty, en route back from China, enshrined Susanoo-no-Mikoto on Ojiyama and named it Gion Shrine. It is said that Qinghai Island was connected to the mainland at that time. The haiku poet Shigetsu Shirakata, who was born in Senzaki, wrote a poem "Spring breeze, a ferry carrying a nun" in the early Showa period (1926-1989). Ojiyama" is one of the "Eight Views of Senzaki," in which the children's song poet Misuzu Kaneko described the scenery of her hometown, Senzaki, and wrote, "My town floats like a dragon palace in the midst of it. There is a poem monument in the park, and in April, when Misuzu was born, the park is crowded with people viewing cherry blossoms.

Ojiyama
was planted to become a park,
the cherry trees have all died,
but the stumps of the trees that were cut down,
have all sprouted, sprouted, sprouted.
A sea of silver shining between the trees,
my town floats like a dragon palace
in the midst of it.
Silver tiles and stone walls,
like a dream, also hazy.
If you look at the town from Ojiyama,
you’ll see that I love it.
The smell of dried sardines doesn’t even come here,
just the scent of fresh buds.
