Today (Saturday, July 26, 2025) was the last day of the Senzaki Gion Festival in the Senzaki area (click here for an overview of the first day of dancing and the festival ).
Before 3:00 p.m., the departure dance will be performed at Shinyashiki Town, which is in charge of this year's floats and dances.
Then at 3:30 p.m., a Japanese dance was dedicated at the "Kogion" near the northern end of Senzaki.
The portable shrine was brought to the "Kogion" from Yasaka Shrine on Sunday the 20th, and today, the last day of the festival, it will be returned to Yasaka Shrine again.
In the evening, a performance by the Japanese drum group "Aonami" was held in front of Yasaka Shrine at 18:00.
In addition, a fair will start at the precincts of the temple at about the same time as the taiko performance.
In addition, a limited number of "Japanese sweets set favored by Misuzu", a collaboration product of "Senzaki Street Town Council" and "Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum", will be sold at the venue.
The set includes sweets (sakura mochi and yokan) that appear in Ms. Misuzu's poem, and the fact that the festival is held in a place associated with Ms. Misuzu has made it popular.
The "Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum" held an exhibition including an explanation of the poem from which this set of sweets was derived, and visitors were able to see it during the festival.
From 7:00 p.m., the "Children's Maiko" from Shinyashiki Town will finally perform their dance in the precincts of Yasaka Shrine.
The dancing ended without incident, and the entire schedule of the "Senzaki Gion Festival" was completed.
After the dancing was over and the entire Senzaki Gion Festival schedule had been completed, fireworks were set off from the nearby Senzaki Fishing Port as the "Senzaki Gion Fireworks".
We look forward to seeing you again next year.
