On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the Akasaki Festival was held in the Higashi-Fukagawa area. This festival began around Keicho 1 (1596), when people expressed their gratitude to Akasaki Shrine, which is dedicated to the patron god of agriculture, in the form of performing arts. It is a traditional event that has been passed down for more than 400 years by the local people.
Akasaki Shrine Raku-janjiki (Designated by the national government as an important tangible folk cultural property)
Many stalls were lined up in and around the venue and the area was crowded with people.
Kabuki "Shomyo-shi Shiki Sanbaso" will be performed on the stage at Akasaki Mountain Grounds.
The Akasaki Shrine Raku-janjiki was dedicated to "Torano-no-watashi" and "Tsuki no mae no reigaku" (Melodrama before the moon), both of which were performed as Gakudori.
Yumoto Nanjo Odori," a traditional dance of Nagato Yumoto Onsen, was also performed.
Summer-like heat returned to the Akasaki Festival this year, but
the performers still danced as best they could!
