On Saturday, October 26, 2024, the "Nagato Blue Ocean Ride with Akiyoshidai 2024" was held, offering cyclists a superb view of Nagato City and Mine City.
Participants will bike a total distance of 114 km while enjoying gourmet food and spectacular scenery.
This article provides an overview of the event with photos.

Registration & Start

This year's start and finish point was "Renessa Nagato," where many cyclists were registering and preparing from early in the morning.
Participants included both men and women, children and adults.

The start was made by group, with Mayor Ehara greeting the participants before departure.

Course Running & Aids

Mine City, Taisho-do Aid

The first aid point is Taisho-do Cave in Mine City at the 25km mark.
In addition to drinks, "Bito Chicken Chicken Burdock Fat Roll" and "Special Amazake" were served here.

Mine City, Akiyoshidai

After passing through Taisho-do Aid, you will arrive at Akiyoshidai, one of the largest karst plateaus in Japan.
Many people took pictures with their bicycles against the backdrop of the spectacular natural scenery.

Nanae River Park Aid

Passing Akiyoshidai and the second aid point "Beppu Benten Pond," we entered Nagato City.
The third aid point at the 71km point of the course is Nanae River Park in Tawarayama.
Here, everyone recharged their energy with a boxed lunch full of local ingredients.

Oda Ohama Campground Aid

After passing Tawarayama, we will head north to the Aburaya area of Nagato City.
The last aid point is the Oda Ohama Campground at the 88km mark.
We were able to take a short break while looking out at the ocean.

It was hard to believe that everyone was already running 88km, but there were so many smiles on everyone's faces!
