The theme of the talk will be "Destination Marketing: Becoming a Region Visited by Tourists from Around the World. While weaving in insights and actual examples gained from the activities of TXJ, which supports the operation and marketing of local governments, tourism federations, and DMOs throughout Japan in both domestic and inbound tourism, he explained the basic concepts for managing tourism destinations that transcend the boundaries between government and private sectors.
Tourism-related businesses in the city and city hall officials also participated in the seminar.
The discussion covered a variety of areas such as inbound tourism promotion, trends, branding/media strategies, and other issues such as the difficulty of regional management, lack of human resources, and the long period of time it takes for the effects to become apparent.
Among other things, he spoke to the participants about the importance of incorporating sustainability-oriented tourism, which is currently gaining popularity, and the importance of close communication among players in the region during the discussion that followed his presentation.
