From today (July 5, 2024 [Friday]) to September 30 (Monday), "50 years after his death, Yasuo Kagetsu Exhibition: Second Phase 1955-1965" is being held at the Yasuo Kagetsu Museum of Art in the Misumi district.
This special exhibition, which marks the 50th anniversary of the artist's death this year, is a comprehensive introduction of his work, divided into three sessions over the course of a year. The second phase of the exhibition focuses on the period of black paintings from 1955 to 1965, when his unique style of painting began.
Paintings, as well as drafts and drawings of his works, and Hagi ware painted by Kougetsu are also on display.
Also, until August 25 (Sun.), the Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum of Art in Yamaguchi City is currently holding an exhibition entitled "Yasuo Kagetsu's Siberian Series," 50 years after his death. At this exhibition, all 57 pieces of Yasuo Kagetsu's representative works, "Siberia Series," will be on display. We hope you will enjoy both exhibitions.
