Nagato Yumoto Onsen Noryo Bon Dance Festival” was held in 2024

Onsen town traditional Bon dance

Today (Sunday, August 11, 2024), the 59th "Nagato Yumoto Onsen Noryo Bon Dance Festival" was held in the hot spring resort area of Nagato Yumoto Onsen.

The main event is a Bon Odori dance performed around a yagura set up in the hot spring resort area. Participants from groups from inside and outside the city dance.

Part 1: Bon Dance

The first part of the Bon dance starts at 7:30 p.m. when the sun sets. This year, three songs were danced: "Yumoto Onsen Ondo", "Ii Yu Dana", and "Dancing Hero".

Lantern Floating & Niagara Fireworks

After the first part of the Bon Odori dance, it is time for the "Lantern Floating". This is also a traditional event held every year. Lanterns are floated down the Onshin River while thinking of ancestors and those who have passed away.

After the lantern floating, Niagara fireworks will be presented on the river.

Part 2: Bon Dance

Finally, the second part begins. The second part of the event is about to begin, and the crowd is excited with the addition of guests who have jumped in.

Entrant groups were judged on their performances, and awards were presented to the best groups.
