MTB endurance race under the blazing sun

On August 6 (Sun), the "Sweat Festa 2023 in Senjojiki," a three-hour endurance MTB (mountain bike) race, was held at "Senjojiki" in the Hioki district.

Race starts on a midsummer morning

In the "Sweat Sweat Festa," a special course is set up in Senjyobashiki, and participants compete to see how many laps they can complete in three hours from 9:00 to 12:00.

Entries are divided into three classes: "Solo", "Team", and "E-bike", with hot races taking place in the midsummer sun, just as the event's name implies.

On this day, over 300 MTB riders gathered at Senjojiki. They started at 9:00 AM all together!

The Race

The special course circles around the top of Senjojiki. The course is approximately 4 km long with grass, asphalt, and off-road terrain.

A pit zone is located in the center of the summit, where riders can adjust their bikes and change riders.

Further inside the pit zone is the "Festival Plaza," where a variety of stalls and booths will be located.

Local people served cold fruit and tea at their booths.

Also on display this year was a special booth of Nishitetsu Kosoku Bus, which operates the "Otosore-go" express bus linking Fukuoka and Kanagawa. The "Cycle Bus CYCLE CARGO," which can be used to load bicycles, was also on display in the parking lot.

In addition, a water station was set up at the entrance to the summit, where visitors could hydrate themselves and take a shower.

It was a hot, hot day, but the tournament went off without a hitch under clear blue skies and sea views.
