10 days to enjoy Hagiyaki culture in a hot spring resort

Utsuwa no Aki" Vol. 04, an event to enjoy Hagiyaki culture, is being held at Nagato Yumoto Onsen for 10 days from today (September 16 [Saturday]) to Monday, September 25 (Monday). Various related events will be held at three venues in the hot spring resort, centering on the exhibition and sale of works by Hagiyaki Fukagawa Kiln. The three main venues are "Onyu," "Otosoredo," and "cafe & Pottery Oto," and today, the first day of the event, a ceremony was held at "Onyu.

At the beginning, Mr. Tohei Tahara from Tohei Tahara Kiln will deliver a speech on behalf of the exhibiting Hagiyaki Fukagawa Kiln artists, and Mayor Tatsuya Ehara of Nagato City will deliver a congratulatory speech as the guest of honor.

Masahiro Sakakura of Sakakura Shinbei Kiln and Hayato Kimura, Area Manager of Nagato Yumoto Hot Spring Town Corporation, then explained the project. Finally, a commemorative photo was taken with the guests in front of the "bamboo staircase" near "Onyu".

Special event "Kawayoko Cafe" unveiled

After the ceremony, one of the special events of this year's event, "Kawadoko Cafe," was presented. Tea was served to the guests on the kawadoko (riverbed) at "Kai Nagato" located on the Otoshigawa River that flows through the Oto Hot Spring resort area.

Autumn of Utsuwa" at three venues

Venue 1: "Onyu

In line with the overall theme of this year's event, "Shugyo (autumn dawn)," each of the kilns at the Onyu bathing facility exhibits "dawn ware" made with traditional techniques and materials.
Open 10:30-17:30/open daily during the exhibition period

Venue 2: "Otosoredo

The gallery and souvenir store "Otosuri-do" exhibits tea ceramics, objets d'art, and other works that show more of the artist's personality.
*Open from 11:00 to 18:00 / Closed: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Venue 3 "cafe & Pottery Oto

At the gallery and café "cafe & Pottery Oto" you can see cups, plates, and other everyday pieces.
*Open from 10:00 to 16:00 / Closed: Wed. and Thu.
