Learning about "light" for events in preparation for "Utaakari 2023

On Tuesday, December 6, the second session of the "Utaakari Concierge Workshop" was held at Nagato City Hall.

This is an initiative for the "Onshin River Utaakari 2023" lighting event scheduled to be held in the Nagato Yumoto hot spring resort area from January to February next year.

This program trains "Utaakari Concierges" who will provide on-site guidance to visitors during the event.

(*) "Utaakari" in 2023 is scheduled to be held from Thursday, January 19 to Sunday, February 19.

The course was attended by about 20 members of the "Nagato Tourism Concierge," who are active in learning about tourism in Nagato and hospitality.

The lecturer for the class was Shiho Nagamachi, a lighting designer who is involved in the town planning of hot spring resorts and designs lighting for the lighting of hot spring resorts and Utaakari. She spoke about "Utaakari" and lighting in hot spring resorts.

Shiho Nagamachi

First, he explains how the lighting in the hot spring resort area was created in the town development plan and what the lighting concept of the "Utaakari" event that was launched in this context is. He cheerfully discusses the highlights of the lighting, as well as new elements added each year, community involvement, and other attractions.

The gobo (a board used to attach a pattern to a light) used in the lighting of Uta Akari was also shown to us.

Mr. Nagamachi said, "In town planning, it is important to create 'specialties' that will make people think, 'This year was fun again, what will it be like next year? It is important to create a "specialty" that makes people think, "This year was fun again, what will next year's event be like? Utaakari aims to be such a "specialty," building on the thoughts of those involved and those who have come to the festival. He also shared his thoughts on Utaakari.

One more training session is scheduled for the event starting in January.
