Nagato Tourism Convention Association
From September 3 (Fri.) to October 31 (Sun.), a special exhibition, " The Age in which Misuzu Lived through Her Poems," is being held at the " Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum " in the Senzaki district of Nagato City.
This exhibition is designed to give visitors a sense of the period in which Misuzu lived (from the late Meiji period to the early Showa period) through 15 poems.
The era in which Misuzu lived was one in which popular culture flourished and the modernization of Japan was remarkable.
What is brand new to Misuzu is divided into what is commonplace or nostalgic for today.
For example, "telegraph poles" and "airplanes" are commonplace today, but "phonographs" and "activity photos" are nostalgic.
This kind of sense of the times appears in the 15 poems featured in this issue.
The venue is divided into three sections: "The Times Misuzu Lived," "Various Entertainments in Poetry," and "Changes in Advertisements," with maps and phonographs from the period also on display.
We hope you will take this opportunity to feel the "era in which Misuzu lived".
