Nagato City is a Food Tourism Certified Area

Food tourism is a trip that aims to enjoy local food and food culture.

On the occasion of Food Day on Monday, February 10, Nagato City in Yamaguchi Prefecture will be added to the list of areas certified by the Japan Food Tourism Association, which until now had only three locations in Japan, along with Biei-cho in Hokkaido and Towada City in Aomori Prefecture.

Both of these regions were exhibited as "candidate sites for certification" at Tourism Expo Japan 2019 held in Osaka last October.

Through the tasting and quiz competitions, we realized once again how attractive the region's unique "food" is.

Food" of 3 regions to be tasted in Asakusa

On this day, Rurubu Kitchen ASAKUSA Ekimise, JTB Publishing's directly managed store in Asakusa, Tokyo, opened a special food tourism-themed fair that will run through March 9 (Monday).

During the period, original menus using ingredients from the three regions certified this time will be served, and through the distribution of pamphlets and the showing of PR movies in the restaurant, the appeal of food unique to the region will be communicated in such a way that will "make you want to visit and try it".

On the first day of the fair, a "food experience" was held at the restaurant with members of the Tokyo media.

First, the Japan Food Tourism Association will explain the purpose of this project.

Representatives from the three regions then took the microphone in turn to give presentations on their regions and food. Members of the media were invited to listen as they tasted the menus actually served at the restaurants.

From Nagato City, staff members of the Nagato City Tourism and Convention Association, who are involved in "Nagatrip, " a tourism event combining local food and experiences, participated in the event. In addition to introducing the "Choshu Duck" and squid used in the dish, they also promoted the food tourism that can be enjoyed in Nagato City.
