On March 12 this year, "Hoshino Resort KAI Nagato" will open, and on March 18, "Onyu," the symbol of the hot spring resort area, will open, along with a souvenir shop renovated from a vacant house, and the area will undergo a renewal this spring.

The theme of the reborn Nagato Yumoto Onsen is a hot spring resort town where visitors can enjoy strolling around. Along the Onshin River, which runs through the center of the town, a number of restaurants serving local delicacies and spaces where visitors can relax while listening to the murmuring of the river have sprung up one after another.

Enjoy strolling through the spa town

After parking your car in the parking lot, the first thing you will see is the "bamboo stairs.

Imagining the views and experiences that await you ahead, walk down the stairs that lead in a straight line to the main area where the Onyu is located.

On-yu Plaza" is a space for relaxation created between " On-yu" (drop-in hot spring) and"On-yu Shokudo" (restaurant building).

The plaza can be used in a variety of ways, such as for dining, relaxing, or playing in the river shallows.

Lined up down the plaza were stalls offering snacks and beverages to accompany the stroll.

The "Otosuri River Terrace," visible from the "Chiyobashi Bridge" that spans the front of Onyu, allows visitors to feel the murmuring of the river up close.

On this day, smoke was billowing from the yakitori (grilled chicken) made with Nagato City's specialty, Choshu-dori, by the river terrace.

This is Sakura Shokudo, which is scheduled to open on March 26 (Thursday) on the street near the river terrace. The restaurant will offer not only an eat-in menu, but also a take-out menu, and will propose new ways to enjoy the town through the opening of a food stall.

Nagato City is a yakitori town with the highest number of yakitori restaurants per 10,000 people in Japan. In Nagato City, fresh chicken caught in the morning is skewered with onions and served with salt.

The luxury of being able to taste the region's representative "food" while feeling the cool breeze by the river. Making the most of the charm of the shallow and calm Onshin River, you will experience a view and time that can only be found in Nagato Yumoto Onsen.

After soaking in the hot springs and spending time soaking your body and soul, you may want to visit the souvenir shop by the "Stairway to the Bamboo Grove".

Otosoredo is an old private house that has been renovated and is scheduled to open in early April.

This store, which has been reborn as a gallery of Hagiyaki Fukagawa Kiln works, is lined with original souvenirs from Nagato Yumoto Onsen.

It is also expected to serve as a tourist information center for the hot spring resort, with a collection of tourist pamphlets for the surrounding area.

At night, Otosoredo is lit up to create a fantastic atmosphere.

Together with the illuminated "Bamboo Staircase," it will add color to the entrance to the new Nagato Yumoto Hot Springs.

After soaking in the hot spring at night, you can enjoy strolling around in peace, and looking for "picturesque spots" lit up is one of the new ways to enjoy Nagato Yumoto Onsen.
