Footbath with refreshing aroma
Since the Edo period (1603-1867), it has been customary in Japan to take a yuzu bath on the winter solstice. It is said that soaking in the yuzu helps to heal chapped skin by improving the flow of blood, and also relieves sensitivity to cold, neuralgia, and back pain.
From December 19 (Thu.) to 22 (Sun.), footbaths using the aromatic citrus fruit "Kiniru Nagato Yuzukichi" will be opened at the "Otoshiri Ashiyu" located along the Otoshiri River Park Footbath and River Walkway in Nagato Yumoto Onsen, following last year's event this year.
The name "KININARU NAGATO YUZUKI" has three meanings: "tree-nararu", "yellow", and "curious". This is a new brand of Nagato Yuzukichi, Yamaguchi Prefecture's original aromatic citrus fruit, which is usually harvested from mid-August to mid-October, but is slowly ripened on the tree until November or later.
