As of July 1, 2016 (Heisei 28), the hydrangea at Koutokuji Temple has ended for this season as the temple priest has started picking flowers for next year. Thank you very much for those who visited the temple. If you were not able to see the flowers this year, please come next year if you have a chance. The main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha. Originally called Mukotsu-an, the temple was renamed Mukotoku-an after the merger with Kaitoku-ji in 1903, and was renamed Mukotoku-ji in the Showa period (1926-1989).The temple is also known as "Hydrangea Temple," and is famous for its hydrangeas.
