As of June 14, 2016 (Heisei 28), the hydrangeas at Koutokuzenji Temple are almost in full bloom. There are many different varieties of hydrangeas, and the petals of various shapes are very beautiful. The best time to see them will be from now until the end of this week. Please come and see them! The main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha. Originally called Mukotsu-an, the temple was renamed Mukotoku-an after the merger with Kaitoku-ji in 1897, and was renamed Mukotoku-zenji in the Showa period (1926-1989).The temple is also known as "Hydrangea Temple," and is a famous spot for hydrangeas.
