As of June 3, 2016 (Heisei 28), the hydrangeas at Koutokuzenji Temple have begun to bloom. There are many different varieties of hydrangeas, and the petals that have begun to change color are very beautiful. The best time to see them is usually around mid-June, so you can enjoy them from now on. We will keep you updated on the status of the flowers, so please be sure to check back and don't miss the best time to see them! The main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha. Originally called Mukotsu-an, the temple was renamed Mukotoku-an after the merger with Kaitoku-ji in 1897, and was renamed Mukotoku-zenji in the Showa period (1926-1989).The temple is also known as "Hydrangea Temple," and is a famous spot for hydrangeas.
