Misuzu Park is a road park built at the entrance to the Shirokata Tunnel in the middle of the "Chikamatsu-Misuzu Road" connecting Aomi Island and Yumoto. Trees and grasses mentioned in Misuzu's nursery rhymes have been planted in the park, and there are also six poem monuments. From the "hilltop observatory" at the top of the hill, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Senzaki townscape. In the cherry blossom season, there are not many cherry trees, but many different kinds of cherry trees are planted, including yōkō-zakura, somei-yoshino, yae-zakura, and ukon-zakura.
After enjoying the cherry blossoms and the view from the hilltop at Misuzu Park, head to your next destination. ↓ Rent a bike for about 10 minutes↓.
Visitors can learn about the achievements and personalities of Murata Seifu and Shufu Masanosuke, two local forerunners who played a central role in reforming the clan government in the turbulent political climate at the end of the Edo period, through their artifacts and other materials. The museum also exhibits ethnic materials, allowing visitors to learn about the history and culture of their hometown.
Seifu lived in this old house for about 30 years, from his birth at the age of 19 until his retirement at the age of 63 and death at the age of 73. The main house is a gabled building with thatched roof, and has an entrance with a simple ceremonial platform and a side entrance with a dirt floor for family members. The entrance hall with a ceremonial platform leads to an antechamber and a tatami room for guests, which is characteristic of samurai residences. The house is designated as a national historic site along with the cemetery on Mt. There are Shibata-style rice hulls, a yuden, a stable, and a sanctuary. ↓ Rent a bicycle for about 20 minutes↓.
