This is Mr. Muranaka of the Tourism Division. With the spring weather, the cherry trees planted in Misuzu Park have reached their best time to be seen. In a little while, someiyoshino cherry trees will start blooming and the cherry blossom viewing season will arrive. Spring makes me want to go outside to take a walk, take pictures, or go for a drive! Spring is a very exciting time for me (laughs). Why don't you go outside and encounter various things? I am sure you will see things that are different from what you normally see... The charm of spring is that for every goodbye, there will be an encounter! I am very much looking forward to seeing what kind of encounters you will have this spring... Speaking of encounters, walking events are held in spring at sightseeing spots all over Japan. By participating in these events, you can also meet local volunteer guides, staff of tourist associations, and participants. Walking events filled with such various attractions will also be held in Nagato City, and we hope you will join us. The walking event we are introducing here is a great way to learn about that time period that is currently the hottest in Japan, and we highly recommend it! Tracing the Footsteps of Local Sages Who Laid the Foundations for the Meiji Restoration

 Misumi, Nagato City, was the birthplace of Murata Seifu and Shufu Masanosuke, who played a central role in the reform of the feudal government and laid the foundation for the Meiji Restoration. This tour will visit the places associated with the local forefathers and Motohiko and Hisashi Nudori. IMG_1441IMG_6711 This year's course may be a bit strenuous, with a total length of 15 km, but when you are walking with volunteer guides, staff, and other participants, it is surprisingly easy to walk.
