On Tuesday, April 11, the "Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum 20th Anniversary Ceremony" was held at the "Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum" in the Senzaki district. As the title suggests, the ceremony was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the museum and to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the birth of the children's song poet, Misuzu Kaneko. April 11 was Misuzu's birthday, and the ceremony was held in front of the museum with guests and local residents gathered.
The opening will feature a song by singer-songwriter Chihiro.

This was followed by greetings from Nagato Mayor Ehara, Director Yazaki, and Nagato City Council Chairperson Minamino, as well as the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Director Ueno of the local "Misuzu Nursery School".
Mayor Ehara commented, "I hope that more and more people will become familiar with Ms. Misuzu's poetry in the future.
Director Yazaki said, "I would like to continue to pass on the spirit of Ms. Misuzu, who was nurtured in the community, and protect the memorial hall.
Chairperson Minamino expressed his hope that visitors to the memorial hall will feel the warmth of Ms. Misuzu's world, and that this feeling will spread not only in Japan but also throughout the world.
A letter of appreciation was presented to Misuzu Nursery School in appreciation of the songs performed by the school children over the years as a hospitality to the visitors of the Memorial Hall.
A commemorative kusudama was also cracked in front of the entrance to the memorial hall.
Finally, three of Ms. Misuzu's songs were performed inside the memorial hall by children from Misuzu Nursery School.
Three songs were performed: "Kodama desu ka" (Is it a Kodama?), "Daichiyo" (Big Fishing), and "Me to Kotori to Suzu to" (Me and a Little Bird and a Bell).
We look forward to your continued support of the "Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum".
