The "sanso" (bicycle touring) is a way to enjoy discoveries and encounters unique to a certain place and time of year by riding a bicycle as if you were taking a stroll.
In mid-August, when the morning sky was cloudless and blue, the second monitoring tour of the "Nagato Scatter Run Project" was conducted.
A staff member of the Nagato City Tourism & Convention Association (born and raised in Nagato City, 50s, female) reports.
Before the start of the race, participants were reminded to "take frequent breaks, hydrate well, and never overdo it.
This April, we will go to Nagato Yumoto Onsen, which has been renewed as a hot spring resort where visitors can enjoy strolling around.
The route to Nagato Yumoto Onsen was set up by selecting a road with little traffic, which is not usually traveled by car.
(Left) Renessa Nagato (Right) Nagato City General Park
After the start, the tour will proceed to its destination via JR Senzaki Station and Renessa Nagato.
Adjacent to Renessa Nagato is Nagato City General Park, a place of recreation and relaxation for people of all ages with a roller slide, children's playground, children's playground, and adventure playground. Some visitors said, "It's nice to come here by bicycle and have a relaxing time. One visitor said, "It's nice to come here on a bicycle and play slowly.
(Left) Iiyama Hachimangu Shrine (Right) Akasaki Shrine Raku Jiten
The route is dotted with historic sites such as the road that corresponds to the old "Akamaseki Kaido Kita-michi Suji" (Akamaseki Highway North Route), Iiyama Hachiman Shrine, and Akasaki Shrine Rakujiki (Akasaki Shrine Rakujiki).
"I didn't know there was such a road." What is this?" They stopped along the way to capture the scenery with their cameras and to look at the inscriptions on the stone monuments.
I realized once again that the joy of "scattering runs" is to find "things" and "stuff" that I had never known before.
Approximately one hour after the start, we arrived at Nagato Yumoto Onsen. The Nagato Yumoto Onsen parking lot has bicycle parking spaces available free of charge.
From the parking lot, go down "Bamboo Grove Road" to "Onyu Plaza" with its bright green lawn.
On a bench with an awning, we enjoyed takeout lunches from " On-yu-shoku " and " Yakitori Sakura Shokudo " restaurants in the hot spring resort area.
After lunch, take a break at the Otosoregawa River.
After spending a restful moment listening to the lively voices of children playing in the river, we started our stroll.
We walked around the town while being guided in detail about efforts to revitalize the hot spring resort area and new business development using vacant houses. We made many new discoveries.
On the return trip, choose a road with as little traffic as possible and go to the goal tourist information center, YUKUTE.
On the way, we stopped at Nagato Fukagawa Haiji Temple, which is said to be the oldest temple in Nagato Province. It is said that a pagoda and a kondo (golden hall) were once built here, giving the spot a sense of ancient romance.
Passing through the city center, we continue along the seaside road overlooking Fukagawa Bay to Senzaki.
It was a hot, hot day, but we were able to find new "things" and "things" under the clear summer sky.
