As of June 3, 2017 (Heisei 29), hydrangeas at Koutokuji Temple have begun to bloom.
The best time to see them is usually around mid-June, so it will be a little while before they are in full bloom, but you can enjoy their lovely appearance at the beginning of blooming!

The main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha. Originally called Mukotsu-an, the temple was renamed Mukotoku-an after the merger with Kaitoku-ji in 1903, and was renamed Mukotoku-ji in the Showa period (1926-1989). The temple is also known as "Hydrangea Temple," and is famous for its hydrangeas.
