Welcoming 10,000 smiling faces

The Nagato Toy Museum of Art, which is attached to Senza Kitchen, a roadside station, has welcomed many visitors and smiling faces since its opening, and on June 30 (Sat), the number of visitors reached 10,000.

On the 74th day of its opening, the 10,000th visitor was a family from Hiroshima City. The family came to the museum on the occasion of their return trip to their parents' home in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

As soon as the doors opened, the staff applauded loudly.

At the ceremony held inside the museum, a bouquet of flowers, a "whale parent and child" building block, and three "wooden eggs" inscribed with the words "commemorating 10,000 visitors" were presented. One of these eggs was placed in the "wooden egg pool," one of the most popular playgrounds for children.

In addition to playing with the museum's toys, the family also boarded the Benten, a cruise ship for kids. The parents and children were interviewed with smiles on their faces, saying "It was fun" and "The view was great, so adults could enjoy it, too.

The museum has achieved this goal in its 74th day of operation, which is a faster pace than expected. More than 80% of the visitors are from outside the city. One of the reasons for this strong performance is the "toy curators" who work on a volunteer basis.

Curators with striking red aprons are sharing the fun and excitement of play with children. Currently, about 100 people are registered, and the fourth "Toy Curator Training Course" is currently recruiting participants.

To date, approximately 2,200 people have boarded the Benten, a kids' cruise ship that allows them to enjoy the scenery while touching toys at sea.

Bring wooden toys home. The Museum Shop, where you can purchase a variety of toys, is bustling with visitors every day.

Summer vacation begins next month, and the place will be filled with even more smiles from children. We hope you and your family will enjoy the fun and experiences that can only be had here.
