The shrine is crowded with worshippers who wish to have a child or to improve their health.
The orphaned son of Lord Ouchi Yoshitaka, who met his end at Taineiji Temple in Yumoto, was captured and murdered while hiding in Tawarayama, dressed as a woman, and his manhood was cut off as proof that he was a boy. The villagers who took pity on it built it to comfort the spirits. It is said to be beneficial for the procreation of offspring, increased energy, good marriage, fulfillment of love, and marital bliss, etc. Many giant phallic figures stand all around the small shrine dedicated to the Kannon. It is said that if you pat this head while chanting your wish, it will bring you more blessings.
