National Historic Site Former residence of Seifu Murata, who laid the foundation of the Restoration Kaiten
Misumi Villa is the former residence of Seifu Murata. Seifu resided in this former residence for about 30 years from his birth until the age of 19, and from his retirement at the age of 63 until his death at the age of 73. The main house is a gabled building with thatched roof, and has an entrance hall with a simple ceremonial platform and a side entrance with a dirt floor for family members. The entrance hall with a ceremonial platform leads to an antechamber and a tatami room with a floor for guests, which is characteristic of a samurai residence. Together with the grave of Murata Seifu on nearby Otoseyama, it is designated as a National Historic Site.
