The voices of joy are thronging the temple! Temple of the legend of Yang Kwei-Fei, reputed locally for fulfilling wishes for easy childbirth, fertility, and marriage
Legend has it that Yang Kwei-Hui, a beautiful woman of the world, once upon a time escaped from a difficult situation and drifted to this place in a small boat. A five-ring pagoda (designated as a prefectural cultural property), which is said to be the tomb of Yang Kwei-Hui, and two statues of Buddha (standing Amida Nyorai and Shaka Nyorai), designated as national important cultural properties, are enshrined in the temple grounds to mourn the loss of her family. The temple is known for its spiritual blessings such as protection of women, easy childbirth, child-bearing, and marriage. The temple is also known for its wish fulfillment, and if you wish, the priest will offer prayers in the main hall. The 80 plum trees in March and the Yang Ki-hui cherry blossoms in April are at their best, attracting many tourists. The view of Aburaya Bay from the temple grounds is especially beautiful at sunset, making it a popular spot for photographers, touring tourists, and date night. At the store, visitors can buy specialty products such as the famous Yanggye crackers, chirimen and iriko (dried sardines), which are caught by fishermen in the area and dried in the sun, as souvenirs.
