Ancient temple of the Jodo sect with beautiful green lilies and plum blossoms
Saienji Temple is an old temple of the Jodo sect located on Qinghai Island in Nagato City. The entrance is not in the front, but has a peculiar form with separate entrances for men and women on either side of the main hall. The gate was originally located at Daishoin Temple in Hagi during the Edo period, but was moved to Saienji Temple in the early Meiji period (1868-1912).
In addition, visitors can enjoy plum blossoms in late winter and blue lotuses in summer.
The blue lotus is a rare lotus that is blue in bud and pure white when in bloom. It blooms from late June to August, with the best time to see it being in early July.
