It is said that the shrine was recommended by the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura.
Shibuki Hachiman-gu Shrine is said to have been recommended by the Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine in Kamakura according to "Hocho-ji-dera-sha-dera" (Origin of Hocho-ji temples and shrines). It is said that the shrine was destroyed by fire when a Christian named Goroemon Mitsui, a member of the Miwa clan, burned down shrines and Buddhist temples in the area. In 1907, the Shibuki Hachimangu Shrine was integrated with other shrines in the Shibuki area under a joint shrine enshrinement ordinance, and since then it has been worshipped as the local deity of the entire community.
