Inari enshrined in the precincts of Daneiji Temple
This Inari Shrine, located within the precincts of Daneiji Temple, was built in 1961 by inviting the spirit of Toyokawa Inari from Myougan-ji Temple in Aichi Prefecture. The deity is said to be "Dakini Shinto," a deity with a great vow to protect the prosperity and protection of Buddhism, to remove calamities from the land, and to fulfill the virtues of the people. In 1863, at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, seven court nobles were forced to flee the capital due to a conflict with the Imperial Court, and fled to Choshu.
One of them, Sanjo Sanetomi, was generously protected by Kiun Taisei, the 45th monk of Daneiji Temple. After the Meiji Restoration, there was a rebellion in the Choshu domain over the reform of the military system, and after the rebellion was suppressed, the ringleaders were massacred. At that time, Myoganji Toyokawa Inari was crushed by the government's policy of separating Shintoism and Buddhism, and the priest of Myoganji and the other priests of Myoganji asked the government for relief. Among the important people in the new government were Lord Sanjo and many Choshu people, and Toyokawa Inari was saved from this crisis. It was this connection that made it possible to welcome Nagato Toyokawa Inari to Daneiji.
