On Sunday, March 30, 2025, Harukahi, a project by local high school students, will be held at the Akasaki Shrine Raku-jiki in the Higashi-Fukagawa district of Nagato City. In addition to a marché and stage performances, a tanka poetry reading will be held while admiring the cherry blossoms.
The Akasaki Shrine Raku-janjiki is an outdoor theater built in the Edo period (1603-1868) and designated as a National Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property. Why don't you try your hand at composing tanka poems in this culturally rich location? The winners of the "Tanka poetry contest" will win gorgeous prizes, so please take up the challenge!
This event was organized by the "Otsu STEAM Project," a group of local high school students who plan a variety of projects to "enliven Nagato.
