An event to experience the food and culture of the birthplace of modern whaling [Nagato City, Dori].
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, "A taste with all your senses: Whale Village Hoe-ru Cooking" will be held in Dori, Omijima, Nagato City, where you can experience the food and culture of Dori, the home of the whale, the birthplace of modern whaling.
In Aomijima-dori, Nagato City, the birthplace of modern whaling, participants will have a cooking class to prepare "Whale Soup" and "Deep Fried Whale Tatsuta", which have been handed down in Nagato City since ancient times, and after cooking, they will actually taste whale dishes.
After filling up, watch a performance of whale songs by elementary school children. You will walk around the Whale Tomb, the Hayakawa Family Residence, and other nationally designated important cultural properties, as well as the Whale Museum.
You can fully enjoy "Whale Village" by seeing, eating, walking, and experiencing the culture of Dori, Nagato City.
