Various projects are being held on weekends

The current Nagato Yumoto Onsen "Otonoshigawa Utaakari 2024" not only features light-up performances, but also offers a variety of workshops and viewing tours to further enjoy the Utaakari.

This article introduces some of the projects and other activities that took place on Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18.

Area Manager talks about tourism town planning

On Saturday, February 17, a lecture meeting "Area Managers Talk about Tourism Town Development" will be held at the drop-in hot spring "Onyu". Hayato Kimura, area manager of "Nagato Yumoto Onsen Machi K.K.," which manages the Nagato Yumoto hot spring resort, will speak at the lecture for about an hour.

The content was about the overall development of the hot spring community. In addition to the road to the renewal of Nagato Yumoto Onsen and the thoughts of the community that went into it, various initiatives being developed in Nagato Yumoto, including "Utaakari," were also discussed.

Lecture by a curator at the Misuzu Kaneko Memorial Museum of Isuzu

On February 18 (Sun), a "lecture by the curator of the Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum" was held at cafe & pottery Oto. This lecture was related to the "Uta Akari" light-up display, which is decorated with a motif of a poem by the nursery rhyme poet, Misuzu Kaneko. Ms. Tomoka Uno, curator of the Kaneko-Misuzu Memorial Museum, gave the lecture.

Six of the poems were read aloud along with the lights of the "Uta Akari" and explained. The program also included a discussion of Ms. Misuzu's situation at the time of her death and her thoughts on the poems.

Various stores are held at Onyu Plaza every weekend.
