On Saturday, November 5, "Nagato Blue Ocean Ride with Akiyoshidai 2022" was held in Nagato and Mine cities.
This is a cycling event with a course that offers beautiful views of both cities, and you can also enjoy local "food" at aid points along the course.
In this report, we present photos of Nagato City during the event.
This year, two courses were offered: a "Cycling Course" on the main course and a "Train Course" where participants could ride a train along with their bicycles. 273 people participated in all(*).
The start and finish line was the "Roadside Station Senza Kitchen" in the Senzaki district, where many riders gathered despite the early morning.
(*)This page mainly presents the "Cycling Course".
We also got to see a beautiful sunrise.
The event started at about the same time as sunrise.
The course takes you to the Misumi district with a view of the sea at Senzaki. The course will pass through Yumen Onsen and go around Akiyoshidai in Mine City to arrive at Ohfuku Station.
The "Train Course" will take you by train here and return you to Senzaki Station via the JR Mine Line and the Senzaki Line.
The "cycling course" returned to Nagato City and headed for the Tawarayama area, reaching the aid point at "Nanae River Park.
Nanae River Park Aid Point
It is just before noon. Bicycles arrive at the aid point one after another.
A delicious-looking bento lunch was served here.
Enjoy a menu with many ingredients from the satoyama and wild plant tea.
From Tawarayama, head north to the Aburaya area.
An aid point has been set up at Oda Ohama, a sacred spot for surfers and a spectacular spot on the Mukatugu Peninsula.
Fukagawa Chicken Chicken "Choshu Black Kashiwa Chicken Curry" and Fuji Mitsu "Cheese Koron" were served here.
This year's Blue Ocean Ride was cloudy, but there were firm sunny intervals at key points, allowing riders to enjoy the beautiful scenery. By Aburaya Bay, the sun was shining on the ocean, and riders were happily riding through the sparkling water.
Participants of the "Train Course" boarded the train from Ohfuku Station and arrived at Senzaki Station. They got off the train one after another and headed for "Roadside Station Senza Kitchen.
The first group of the "Cycling Course" participants reached the goal at about the same time as the participants of the "Train Course" arrived at Senza Kitchen. Everyone was getting along well as they passed through the gate to the finish line.
Participants were given ice cream as a gift for completing a participant survey.
This year the weather was perfect for the cycle. We hope the weather will be fine again next year!
