Local Journey Starting with Roadside Station Senza Kitchen

On Thursday, May 24, I participated in a regional trip in Nagato, "Aomi Island South Coast Cruise and Senzaki Squid Pickling Set".

First, register at the tourist information center "YUKUTE" at Senza Kitchen, Roadside Station, after 10:00 a.m.

With the tour ticket in hand, we headed for the sightseeing boat stop nearby.

This time we boarded the sightseeing boat "Dorimu," which, unlike regular boats, is chartered exclusively by tour participants.

Cruise in comfort on a spacious ship. This is one of the luxuries of cruising.

At 10:30 a.m., the ship finally sets sail!

The boat heads toward Qinghai Island with a view of Senza Kitchen from the sea.

The first-time passengers were looking at the pamphlet with pleasure, wondering what kind of scenery they would be able to see.

On this day, there was no wind and the sky was blue. My heart swells with anticipation.

Passing under the Qinghai Bridge, the ship continues on the west side of Qinghai Island. When you open the window, the sea breeze is very pleasant!

The first point that gradually came into view. It is "Hanatsuura," a rock with a large hole in it!

I heard an announcement on board and took a closer look at the tip...

You can see the Goddess of Kannon!

The boat stopped at sea for a moment, as it could only be seen from this angle.

Together with the participants, we enjoyed the time to take pictures of "Hanatsuura Kannon".

As you approach the northwestern tip of Qinghai Island, the surrounding rocks change a bit.

Gradually, more and more reddish rocks are being found.

This area is a spot called "Akase.

As the name suggests, it is named after the red rocks.

The contrast between the blue sky and the red rocks is another key point to photograph!

Next in sight is the "Komori-do" (cave), which looks like a bat spreading its wings.

Then, there is the "Married Couple Rock," where large caves are lined up in close proximity.

Boats are allowed to enter this "husband and wife" rock!

I heard that smaller boats can go deeper, but that's it for today.

The cool, cave-like air made us forget the heat of the ground.

And here is the turnaround point. We cruise around the west side of Qinghai Island as we did on the way there!

On the way back, we also passed the sightseeing boat "Pink Citrus" and waved with everyone!

Thus ended the 50-minute cruise.

It was impressive to hear the participants talk about how nice the scenery was and how good it felt to be there.

Limited time offer! Tantalize your taste buds with our original menu!

For lunch, we went to Kiraku across the road from Senza Kitchen.

Here, we had the Senzaki Squid Pickled Set, a tour-only menu featuring squid from Senzaki!

Squid tempura in a bowl of rice topped with pickled squid. It is served with a small bowl of cooked rice and soup, and looks like a satisfying meal.

We will start with the main course, a bowl of rice topped with pickled squid!

Squid meat marinated in egg yolk and rich sauce, and rice covered with shiso and nori (seaweed). When you grab the rice with chopsticks, the flavor and sweetness of the squid will stand out and fill your mouth with flavor. A small amount of wasabi (Japanese horseradish) on the side also adds a nice accent to deepen the flavor.

It was a bowl of rice topped with a bowl of rice that made me realize once again how delicious the squid of Senzaki is.

And squid tempura is another way to learn about the different face of squid from the rice bowl.

The crispy batter and the flavor packed into the thick meat. It was a lunch that filled both my stomach and my heart.

Touch the world of Ms. Misuzu

After lunch, walk along "Misuzu Street" leading north from Senzaki Station.

The destination is the "Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum" located in the middle of Misuzu Street!

On this tour, in addition to the cruise and lunch, you will also receive a ticket to enter the memorial museum.

When you taste the world of poems drawn by Ms. Misuzu in the museum, you will suddenly feel a sense of cheerfulness.

Now, after the tour of the museum, the time is still past 2:00 p.m.

Whether you walk down "Misuzu Street" to find the scenery and spots mentioned in the poem, take a break at a cafe, or go looking for souvenirs at Senza Kitchen, you have many options. How are you feeling today? We started walking around the town again, talking about it.
